Lens: depends on how far from the action you are. Close - wider is better, Far - longer is better
Mode: if you're any good, manual just like everything else. If not, then shutter priority is probably the way to go.
ISO/SS/Aperture: all varies on what you're lighting conditions are, where your subjects are, and how fast they're moving.
Thanks for the reply. Gives me an idea of what to use. I figured it would be between manual or shutter priority. I will see which one works well for me. As for the lens, I was asking which because some prefer one over the other and vice versa. Some people have lenses they use just for something in particular at times. I'm working with the kit lens that came with the camera 18-55. Not sure yet how close or far I will be from the cars themselves.
