Bamf: All I can say is.....thats why some people are in LE/Bounty work and some are not. Also a member of our SWAT team, Ive made over 50 entries into peoples homes. Some armed and knew we were coming. SOme had no clue. The main safety net we have is "suprise". If you know Im at your door, then a flashbang is coming trough you window (pending no other concerns). And almost all of your windows will be broken as a "destraction". Do people still have a chance to shoot?....well sure. All we can do is hope our training and equipment is better. Its an unfortunate reality of law enforcement. Never been in the military (really close but went the college route) so I cant say how they do it. However, Numerous people I work with have been military and most seemed to be trained similar to our swat school. That why I say... think again to people that say fuck the police....cause would you do it?
Do members of LE/bounty get killed making entries....yes. However, its way more common on simple traffic stops. Traffic stops are the MOST dangerous thing LEO's can do. Statistics prove it.
Absolutely, in the case of SWAT. You've got excellent armor and weapons, those shields (can any common rifle rounds even penetrate those things?), a team of highly trained troops, and the element of surprise. Plus, a lot of people think twice before actually shooting at the police special forces.
A bounty hunter, on the other hand, announces their presence first. They may bust down the door with a few guys, but certianly not the organization, manpower, or speed of a SWAT team. They're just a bondsman breaking into someone's house. Maybe they have a handgun on them and a vest without trauma plates? That isn't much to stand up to what the average Floridian keeps next to their bed.
Now in states like California, New York, etc., shooting the bondsman probably isn't a problem. Thats how stupid ass shows like Dogg the Bounty Hunter go on where the guy plays Billy Badass around everyone he meets; its a different mentality. States like Florida, Texas...people here have a different mindset. And a lot of firepower. And the people he is attempting to apprehend are all criminals...Thats a pretty bad combination.
I dunno, like you said, thats why some are what they are and some aren't. Just seems like an awful lot of risk to put yourself in day in and day out to me. Just my .02.
