I drove it a few miles nice and easy stopping in parking lots making sure there were no leaks. When I got back home I pulled the valve covers again and torqued the rocker bolts to spec. The noise went away gradually. I didn't use any shims whatsoever. This is the cam card to the cam I ran in my last car.

Coincidentally, last night I started tearing down my top end to put these heads back on until I ran into a little snag (forgot to buy a fuel line disconnect tool and A/C line disconnect). I still have the cam, too. It's got some scoring on it, but ran like a mofo when I got rid of the last car so I'm tossing it back in as is lining up the dots w/o degreeing it. Worked fine that way last time. Being that it's just a street car with D/D ability I'm not going radical with this car or engine.
Yup, they are progressively getting quieter. After I got off the phone with Shaun and had his reassurance I put it back together and fired it up. They were WAY quieter today than yesterday. I also poured oil on the moving parts when I put it back together. Car ran good on the 4 mile trip home (aside from a brake issue I'm having - but that was there before). Its a little finicky with the 24's and Pro-M...but liveable. I think that will straighten out after I do a base idle reset. Runs just as cool as it did before so far...

You can still hear them ticking with the hood open, but you kind of have to be listening for it. Nothing like before. Only other thing is that under slightly heavier throttle (not babying it, but not ripping on it - like if you pulled out on a U-turn and had to move a little quicker to get outta traffic) at about 2500 the exhaust note gets a little raspier - dont know if thats the valvetrain I'm hearing through....or just the extra power lol. I think I can hear a small exhaust leak from either the header-to-midpipe connection or midpipe-to-dump pipes connection.

Overall, I'm happy with how its acting right now. Sounds alot different, diff note and a little noticably louder. Its taking all of my self-control not to put my foot in it...
