Even without having a good bit of experience with them, an LT1/T56 setup can be had for $1500, without much trouble at all, a cam swap and a little effort in tuning you are at 360 RWHP, with less spent than a SR install with intake, exhaust, fmic.

To add to this you've also got a bigger clutch that is going to hold more power at the same clamp load so you are ahead there, you now have a 140A alternator stock compared to what ? 80A ?, you also have a T56 that is going to actually take more abuse than you can possibly throw at it. There are many more reasons the LT1 is a better choice than the SR, or KA.
