Yeah, I think they're alergic to oil changes over there in Japan. I've seen some bad ones. Usually it takes lean conditions, detonation, or the like to do that to a piston. I guess overheating due to oil starvation would probably do it, too.
The plugs were all in great shape, it was sounding like a wrx at idle, and damn sure wasnt running right, it had one cylinder that was lower than the others when I installed it, but after the first engine bad and only getting half the $ I paid towards a replacement, I wasnt about to go through the work yet again, and take the trip again, to hope for a better engine.
I've got another block which was a redtop but had 54C's in it, rod knocking, i'll be putting my crank and bearings in that block so I can drive the car while i get some supertech pistons and manley or crower rods for the bad block
