On a more productive note, does anyone in the area have one of these they might be interested in selling or renting out ?

I could tell you that motor was in pretty sad shape by looking at the piston. There's a ton of build-up by the wrist pin. Plus look how nasty it is below the first ringland.

So how do you do that to an essentially stock motor? I've got a stock piston just like that but it ran 25+psi and made 539whp.

Call it me if you'd like, but with the walls as worn as they are, and the valve guides, I have a feeling my "40-60K" JDM tight motor, was more like in the 240-360K range

It only spent 6 months in my car, and i doubt the NGK plugs or Mobil 1 did that damage.

wait, is that actually aluminum melted into your oil ring? Sweet!

Yeah, I think they're alergic to oil changes over there in Japan. I've seen some bad ones. Usually it takes lean conditions, detonation, or the like to do that to a piston. I guess overheating due to oil starvation would probably do it, too.

Hmmmmm...... Only nitrous or high boost applications blow ringlands like that from my experience, or that motor must have been in very poor condition......

Usually the sr tranny goes before the motor.

The plugs were all in great shape, it was sounding like a wrx at idle, and damn sure wasnt running right, it had one cylinder that was lower than the others when I installed it, but after the first engine bad and only getting half the $ I paid towards a replacement, I wasnt about to go through the work yet again, and take the trip again, to hope for a better engine.

I've got another block which was a redtop but had 54C's in it, rod knocking, i'll be putting my crank and bearings in that block so I can drive the car while i get some supertech pistons and manley or crower rods for the bad block
