Definitly not $1800 worth of damage, but thats in your favor. When you talk to the claim rep next, tell them that you ARE keeping the car and fixing it yourself. They cannot force you to give them the car. They will give you the "totaled" value ($1100) minus the buyback value. Tell them that you want to be compensated for "loss of use of the vehicle" from the the day of accident until they cut the check ($15-$35 per day). Depending on what the buyback value is, the should cut you a check for about $1000-$1100. Then you can fix it however you want.
