like I said before if you plan on doing this swap in your lifetime its gunna cost you putting aside WAY more than 100 dollars a month... even with saving 100 a month you wont have enough money to start the swap for 7-8 years, so if you cant do that you are looking at over a decade before you start... does that make sense? And what the other guy said, its not like you are gunna slap a new motor in on saturday morning and be driving it sunday afternoon, you need to buy another car in the meantime.
I bought a WRX for the same reason probably 75% of WRX's owners buy them: cheap price for what you get... awd, turbo, great handling, sports car performance with much lower insurance, 4 door sports car (i.e. can have passengers in the back seat), etc, etc.... all for ~$24-$26k
But more importantly why would you buy a 2.5i if you really wanted a WRX??... I wanted a WRX since they came out in 2002 (USDM) but I didnt go buy something that makes me wish I had a WRX (i.e. a regular impreza) Just accept that you bought the wrong car for what you want to do, you are too young, too poor, or too whatever to do anything about it, so just accept the 2.5i for what it is and stop trying to make it something its not
