this is how I learned to drive manual/standard..and I taught myself:
1)start the car by pushing the clutch pedal(far left pedal) all the way in.
2)put the gear selector into first(upper left)
3)slowly let out the clutch till you feel/see the car moving and then bring the rpms up to about 1500-2000 and let out the clutch all the way...not too fast or it will jerk.
4)to change gears let off the gas
5)press the clutch pedal all the way in
6)put the gear selector into the next gear in sequence.

always remember when you want to slow to a light or anything just put the car in neutral.(can be done without touching the clutch)Then brake like you would normally in an automatic.
