I am not the most fluent person when it comes to carb apps. (and I realize your statement has a note of sarcasm/humor to it). But even a carb motor has an A/F that can be measured. The only difference is that the FI computer thingamajigs adjust the A/F with a few strokes on a keyboard. Where as the carb takes a screw driver and alot of "close enough for government work". I'm guessing maybe the dinosaurs (and by that I mean anybody that was born before cars came with FI standard) are driving the carb'd v8's that can handle running lean until the next spark plug change, as opposed to a motor that is only slightly larger than that of a wave runner.
