im assuming you meant to say if the coolant smells like exhaust. but im pretty sure thats not his problem here.

i can redo the valve guide seals if needed. typically, seals that have gone bad will smoke upon startup, at wide open throttle and really bad ones during decel. they typically dont smoke while just idling.
