Good Compression, but still smoke????
As the title says I did a compression test and it came out 160 across all 4 cylinders. Its a friends car, and he said he just had the valve seals replaced a wk ago, what else could b makin it smoke...Its a 93 sentra XE all stock
does the coolant in your radiator smell like coolant? if yes its the head gasket. if its dark smoke then you are running rich and fouling your plugs maybe because of a vacuum leak. how does it run? any other symptoms?

its not dark smoke, and its not losing asy coolant, the pcv valve is good...the car runs fine other than the smoke...the only thing that I can think, is maybe the guy that did the valve seals, didnt do a good job......the way it smokes, I thought for sure the rings were shot, but I got a consistent 160 across all 4
the guy who did the valve job, might have been lazy and not seated the seals properly. How long has the car been driven since the job was done.
The same thing happened to me with an old sentra. We had to drive it home, a 30 minute drive. and it sat in the driveway idling for another 30 to 45 minutes and then the smoke just went away and the engine was running perfectly.
