Chances are it was either the rings have been sitting for a while, or the head needs a valvejob, which is no surprise.
Same thing happened with the one my brother and I got from another member here, except we brought stuff to comp test it there, and one or two cyls were low, he pulled it out running and driving, and im sure it was, however you are talking about buying a used 150, probably 180k plus mile motor, dont expect it to be brand new and try not to be so quick to claim someone intentionally ripped you off.

he said the engine had 77k miles and it ran "great" im not an idiot, the guy told me straight up that there wans't anything wrong with it, you don't know the whole story sir, its out of a 97 its not an old motor. i have all the proof i need i could take this to court but its a waste of time and energy, I only bought the motor to get my "other" car running before i drop my ls1 into it. but now that the motor isn't even worth dropping it in im just going to wait it out till my ls1 is ready.. IF YOUR INTRESTED IN PARTS OFF THIS MOTOR THEN YOU CAN REPLY TO THIS THREAD. IF YOU JUST WANT TO TALK SHIT THEN YOU DON'T NEED TO BE ON THIS FORUM..
