thing is smoking its ass off and compression/leakdown was good, brand new valve guide seals, etc....

make sure you have a big enough oil drain and it has a good path to the oil pan. also make sure your oil level is not too high.

I dont think this is gonna solve your problem... I know Im not the smartest guy in the world, but I have basically the same turbo and I dont run a restrictor, and I havent had any problems ever...

looked at the drain line and it comes down but then seems to go straight for like 3 or so inches because it comes around the downpipe....it almost looks as if it comes like .5" up before it reaches the pan but i couldnt tell from the angle i was looking at....i dont have a jack right now but i will get to it as soon as i can and see if this could be the problem...
