My wife and I spent 3 months and looked at well over 30 cars before finding one that met our criteria.

A $4500 car can easily be purchased for $2500 - $3000. Dont look at an asking price and assume thats it. Everything is negotiable,.. even the ones that say price is firm. You'll see the same car reposted a month later with -$500 to -$1000 off the asking price. Dont blow your whole wad on a car. The $3500 - $4000 price range is a mixed bag. You have all the $1500 complete shit cars that people think because it has a 5.0 badge they have a rare car worth a fortune and they tell you "Fixed up my car is worth $10k." They dont want to hear that right now your car isnt worth $1500. And the other group is the cars that guys want $4500 - $6000 but have too many problems to get what they are asking. They'll gladly take $3000 - $3500,.. but you'll end up blowing another $2000 - $3000 to get them right.

Just chill,.. relax,.. take some valium or smoke a bowl and eat some cheeto's. Keep an eye on the ads. Craigslist for central Fla has 25 - 50 different Mustangs added every day. Not too many bargain in the under $4000 range on Autotrader. Every now and then a jewel pops up. 99% are complete crap.

If your just looking for a 6 cylinder car and dont really care,.. theres over 15 in the Tampabay craigslist right now for under $4k that are super clean.

I was looking last week and there was a white 2002 with Bullet wheels and a DVD system for $3800. Probably would have taken $3500 for it.
