My 85 Coupe Project.....
So I got talked in to buying a cheap set of rings and throwing this thing back together since I had everything else I needed to do it..... I got the short block put back together only too find out 3 pistons aren't coming all the way to the top of the bores, and sure enough it turnes out I have 3 bent rods..... WTF!!!!! I took the pistons/rods back out of it, dug out another low mileage set of rods I have and changed the rods and put it back together again..... The motor is all back together now and bolted back in the car again, tomorrow I'll put the turbo stuff back on and get it running again..... For how long this time, who knows.....
I didn't hear it and couldn't see it on the plugs, on top of the pistons or in the chambers..... I could see signs of it in the headers and down pipe though, also on the outside edge of the pistons..... The 3 cylinders in question got a small amount of water in them that got past the damn Cometics?????
It was running a little leaner then I like so I am going to put some more fuel back in it so I can get the A/F back in the mid 11's.....

Do you install the Cometics dry? There are so many ways I've heard them being installed. Buick guys always put them GM sealant tablets in the radiator after start-up to seal them and swore by it. Other say spray them with copper seal....and many swear by installing them dry. I think I'll end up o-ringing mine with copper gaskets.
Water might have been an issue.
