This works for some and not others and I commend those that can do all of it.

Personally I did not have the time and proper tools for some of it but still managed to do quite a bit on my own. The only time I " dropped off " my car was when TJ welded up the turbo stuff. And when the cage was installed. I do not have the know how or tools to any of the above.

I sourced, researched, and purchased all my own parts laid a lot of it out, chose the right people for the jobs I could not do, and so on. I could never just drop off a car and have someone else do all of it. Not that I do not trust them I just want to be more hands on.

The motor, other than basic shit I have no clue how to build something like that. Thankfully my builder shared a lot with me and I learned a ton but still could never do it on my own by any means. I am just more knowledable now. There is no replacement for decades of experience. I will leave that stuff to the pros.

And I have to disagree, not everyone with a ton of money can go fast. There are plenty out there that just blow shit up and throw more money at it just to do it again.

i totally hear where your comming from scott. You obviously have alot more tied up in your setup then i do in mine as well. just the way i was brought up, especially with cars, you did it on your own or it didnt get done. mainly because we couldnt afford it. I always had some way of obtaining information whether it was books, web, or someone with years of experience. every car and motor i have ever built has never once been in a shop. not because it wouldnt be nice to drop it off and come back and it be done, but mainly because i cant afford it. And at the end of the day when all is said and done i feel better about my time slip or other accomplishments because "I" did it. if it performed then i had that much more to be excited about, and if it didnt, i dont have anyone to point at. thats just my logic. im not knockin anyone by the way, im just a jealous spectator with a budgeted hobby dreming of a bigger budget.
