people with b series will say fuck d series. thats just the way it is. some people just arent aware of the true potential of the sohc. fjt bottom end kits run about 600 with all gaskets custom i beam rods and vitara pistons. its also proven 400 hp with theses parts.
now if you are looking for forged pistons obviously the price will jump way up from there.
i personally have a stock y8 on 8 psi and holds its own. its not the fastest out there by no means but its not the worst.

 

An I had a stock poor mans R@18psi and destroyed a fully built single@25psi. That was with a semi spun bearing dropping outa VTAK. we ran like 6 times one night, dude almost cried....

Personally, I love that the DOHC guys hate on the D. It helps keep prices low for the parts I need when they swap them out.

 

D weighs less then a b. Only benefit I know, if I were to do it the same way I did my d but with a b I'd be making 200hp more no doubt
