Turbo Single Cam.... New Trend
And lets play the cost game...and we say YOU do YOUR OWN work...here we go
DC Chassis with LS motor = $3000
EG Chassis with z6 = $3000
The car prices will be pretty damn close.
Let's order in a turbo kit for the EG and one for the DC...both stay stock...
EG = roughly 200-220whp
DC = roughly 230-250 whp
And that is playing it safe with both motor. Turbo kit will cost the same for both cars as it is the SAME exact work you will be doing on both.
Let's build the motors a bit shall we?!?!?
B build:
Eagle Rods
CP Pistons
GE Block Guard
Victor X Manifold
70mm Throttle Body
D build
Same as above...cost = SAME SAME SAME lol
LS motor now throws down about 350whp with 1.8L which also means MORE torque
z6 motor now throws down 280-300whp with a 1.6L which means LESS torque
Winner...hmmm let me guess...not the single cam

EG Chassis with z6 = $3000

Who said you need cp shit? FJ Distributors
599..all inclusive, and hell yes you can pull 300whp out of a stock sohc VTEC head, its been done over and over again. shell out another 250 for a cam, and your looking at an easy 350 before serious head work begins.
Also, that integra is about 500 lb heavier, without a sunroof. And if you happened to end up with an obd2 teg you are now looking at ecu and jumper harness on top of chipping.
Torque and hp are not indicative of each other. They are related but not linked, take a look at diesels for instance.
And beyond that, it was an arguement not necessarily against an ls turbo setup, but toward the far more expensive swaps that are available locally. People playing with the LS engines has just sprung up in the last year or two as well, after people realized what could be done for low cost. If youd like to argue the power capabilities of the cast pistons, we can do that too and I can throw up dyno after dyno of 400+ cars..and one group who recently pushed them over 600hp..but I believe their stock block sheared the crank and split in half shortly after (well duh).
The whole point of the OPs post was NOT what car could you buy and build for the same price as the other. It was how much cheaper building your single cam would be as compared to a b series SWAP (or swap and build), disregarding a car that had one stock.

frotogt- sounds to me like this guys knows his stuff. bottom line if a d series breaks your not too deep in the hole. also d series trannys do not run 500 bucks and up. more like around 100. i say boost the single cam.
edit: slow2v- you do not even know what is going on. you should just go hang in the ford forum or something bc you are making an ass out of yourself and do not contribute anything to this guys thread.

YouTube - SpeedFactory '09 Vitara Build - New Record 600+whp!!!
No block guard, stock sleeves, stock bore, mildly worked head, big ass turbo, 3000rpm+ of powerband. This engine could be built for around 1000 bucks, if you could do the work yourself...labor on porting is always a bitch. Also this setup could easily be seen on the street.

It will certainly with boost.. Hell people pull and extra 20 or so NA with the same cam. above 300whp its not so much that its gaining the power, rather that your unlocking what is being restricted.

Wow that moved quick.
No biggie. Im not out to fight with anyone, even you custom240sx. I think thats great that you did a b20 for 400 bucks, love to hear about the good deals. Just be careful with those sleeves if your looking at boost. If not enjoy some NA torque.
Also if your looking at used parts the whole game gets better! People will practically give d series parts away, while they think their b series heads, cams, springs, valves, or intake manis are made of freaking platinum or something and have magical resale value.
selective reading FTL lol
