Im thinking about the addition of a turbo kit to my car within the next year or so. Anyone have any suggestions as to what other mods I should do to the motor in order to prepare it for the kit? I know cam gears and a clutch are mandatory...what else do you think might help out? Thanks.

You might want to check out the Jackson Racing Supercharger... its going to be a lot less maintenance...and money. Trust me Ive had my turbo for 2 days and have overheated twice...and Im fully built and it was installed by one of the best. If you decide to go turbo... lowering the compression might be a thought.

On the cover of SEMAs magazine they show a Ford Focus with a large ass intercooler. I assume turbo. You should check it out.

ford focus makes some REALLY fast custom turbo cars... if you are going to go turbo JetHot Coat EVERYTHING or ThermoTec wrap it b/c that ZETEC motor will get HOT... also you WILL want to go intercooled... once again for heat... lower compression pistons would be good too... and 1 other thing to try would be to put nitrous... Yes nitrous... a 25 shot only though... and put it on the Intercooler on the beginning side (Side coming OUT of the turbo).. that way it will spray the NOS over the intercooler freezing the Intercooler cooling all of the air and giving you a LITTLE power boost while helping keeping it a little cooler & safer.

The Jackson Racing setup seems like a good one. Im not impressed with the power (or lack there of) of the Focus in SCC. It needed some tuning badly. With the kind of power it was putting to the ground it should be able to take a Si will ease.

Im probably going towards a JBA Turbo for my car. Everything is ceramic coated. I have to keep the motor stock for now so I cant go too crazy on the boost. The motor is supposed to take 8psi with no problems just a new clutch.

Right now Im saving up to finish the suspension. The springs lower the car but it still wants to tip over in the turns!! I think new shocks struts and sway bars should do the trick along with some 17 inch rims. HKS exhaust is up next!

You need a lot of fuel to go turbo. Bigger injectors pump and regulator. The richer you are the lower the EGTs will be thus no melt downs.

That is where his car will get a little tricky. The fuel system is messed up in the Focus. It has NO regulator. The Pump is driven as part of the ignition system and recieves pulses of voltage to keep the pressure where it needs to be. very interesting.
