Default air to air/ air to water

what are the pros and cons between the air to air intercoolers ( fmic ) and the air to water.

obviously the differences in hooking up the plumbing and trying to tap the right place for coolant on the air/water and a shorter charge pipe length, but I am wondering more on the performance side.

does the air/water give as much of a temp drop?

does the engine coolant system run hotter and would upgrades to the cooling system help counter act that?

would the air/water be able to support higher hp later or is the air/air better for higher hp?

Air/water is the way to go imo. However, I have had conversations with people, and air/water is not the best idea for daily driver. The systems that I have looked at are independent, having their own pump and water/coolant supply. There was someone on TR that had a system for sale a while back. I would search for it.

You appear to be confused about the nature of a water to air intercooler.

These systems use their own water and heat exchanger, not your regular engine coolant.

probably be a bit more expensive and a lot less economical in terms of daily drivers. if it were air to air, lot less parts to worry about. the only thing may be hose poping off versus something burning out.

Do a search on this and see what comes up... I remember sometime last year there was a long discussion about this that went on forever...... Maybe if I get bored later I'll do the search and post the link....

Thanks guys I looked at some a/w ic kits on the net and the price is a real turn off, that and the complexity. I think I'll stick to air/air.
