Since it has not been mentioned in this thread yet a water cooled better reduces the heat transfer between the turbine and compressor.

Hot air is a bad thing for the induction side so every joule of heat you keep out of the compressor is a good thing.

THE CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR DESIGN CONSISTS OF THREE ELEMNTS THAT MUST BE MATCHED FOR OPTIMUM EFFICIENCY: IMPELLER, DIFFUSER, AND HOUSING.
THE IMPELLER ROTATES AT VERY HIGH SPEEDS. GAS PASSING THROUGH IT IS ACCELERATED TO A HIGH VELOCITY BY CENTRIFUGAL POOP...I MEAN FORCE.
THE DIFFUSER ACTS AS A NOZZLE IN REVERSE TO SLOW DOWN THE GAS WITHOUT TURBULENCE. SLOWING DOWN THE GAS CAUSES IT TO INCREASE IN PRESSURE AND, UNFORTUNATELY, IN TEMPERATURE.
THE HOUSING AROUND THE DIFFUSER IS USED TO COLLECT THIS HIGH-PRESSURE GAS AND DIRECT ITTO WHEREEVER IT IS USED. IN SOME CASES, THE HOUSING ITSELF IS ALSO A DIFFUSER. I HOPE YOU HAVE LEARNED SOMTHING ABOUT TURBOCHARGERS. THIS IS A FRIENDLY REMINDER TO READ MORE BITCH!

This has very little to do with the question I posted. I asked about benefits of watercooling, not a cliffsnotes version on how a turbo works. This is a friendly reminder to practice the art of reading comprehension, bitch.
