Default Turbo suggestions for a friend (mr2)

Heres the setup in basic matters as well as the goals:

He has a standalone style fuel and spark system that works hand in hand with the stock electronics. It also replaces the MAF with an MAP sensor.

He has all the supporting airflow mods as well as fuel mods to support his goals.

The main question here is of a turbine.

Goal is 300whp daily driven on 93.. With as large of a powerband as possible with quick spool as possible.

He saw the SCC silvia article and was asking me about the "Disco Potato" GT28

I told him he had 3 much better choices.

1 . GT25R
2 . BigT28
3 . Silvia S15 BB turbo <--- This would be my choice

The GT25R is 2x as expensive as the S15 and only provides more max power potential that he really isnt going to use if he keeps 300whp as a goal...

SO anyhow, fire away... I also dont think he is interested in CT20B's because their relibility is questionable at that sort of boost.

Clips for the CT26 are also out of the equasion..

OK post away!!

LB sells his 25R for 1500 or so dollars.... The S15 ive heard of being like 500-750 but i'm not sure..

AS far as the CT26 goes.. its whats on there already... Clips and wheel changes are shit. And the CT26/35R hybrid from LB is both expensive and not tested.. The S15 turbo on the other hand is tried and proven and seems to match his 300whp goal with as high of a response and spool rate as possible....

This post might be useless, but if one turbo allows the same manifold and the others do not(and their are not significant loses with the old manny) then that is a plus. Especially if cost is a concern and the manifold price should be added in to the necessary turbos. But you seem to have it all under control and probably only posted for some backup.

he can buy my T28, if i dont sell it its gunna be used on a 3sgte as a autox turbo. i think 300hp from my turbo would be pushing the limits tho.

Yeah its about 50/50 between this reason and the fact that sometimes i like the good intellectual arguement. I also know that if i had left out something MAJOR that one of the gurus here would pick it up and say

WTF NEwB!! Get the Garret GTX 400-24000 GTR Type S Thingie mabob turbo (well not in such a ricer way, but you know what i mean)!

Yeah this car is just kinda ment to be a crazy daily driver with solo 1 excursions at daytona, seabring, and moroso..
