smoky mountains vacation apr10
okay, just got back from vacation and have some pics to share. we went to the smoky mountains, stopped in savannah on the way up, stayed in a cabin for 4 nights and explored. 2100 miles, havent added up the gas yet but guessing about $500 in gas, and 2 major detours. let me know what you think!

Very nice, I have some plans myself to go out that way sometime soon and get away from all this hectic florida crap and the 90 year olds. Any place you recommend going to visit?

yeah, you should do it! i recommend you do at least 4 nights bc theres tons to do.... that and you'll find that if theres a detour in the mountains, its a HUGE deal! we had 2 major detours that cost us at least an hr each. so, if you have plenty of time, those wont piss you off as much if your not on a schedule. as far as places to visit, once we got there, all the touristy stuff in gatlinburg and pigeon forge looked cheesy so we just drove around and explored in the smoky national forest, in and around the cherokee reservation and over by lake fontana, including fontana dam and we happened to stumble upon tail of the dragon and did that which was fun as hell.

Pics look nice, and I love the scenery. The first pic with the lights on is the best, IMO.

thanks! i found that it was hard to get those pics to where the water wasnt captured/still looking, even w/a tripod sometimes the surrounding area looked blurry to me. so, i gave up on the tripod bc of that, #12 was the only one i used a tripod on. that and most of the pics i took i crawled out on rocks or half crossed the stream to get to my shot! lol
