just out of curiousity, not sure how new you are to photoshop but did you make sure you werny looking at a 17% or 25% view of your picture ive noticed that when im not viewing my pictures at a 100% size like say i want to see the whole picture while i adjust levels and what not it will look like a lower quality pic...
