I was pretty happy with these shots until I looked at them on the monitor in my office. Either my office monitor needs to be calibrated or some of these shots are just a little over sharpened for my taste.

I dunno, now that you said it maybe they are a little oversharpened. It wasn't something I noticed on the first look so it's not that bad.

How many shots do you fire off in a day? Do you try to compose the action/panning shots or do you just fire away and pick out the best ones?

 

I used to fire away, but experience taught me that it actually resulted in missed opportunities. I would have a specific car in mind and shoot away as it passed, but now I can shoot multiple pans in the same group during a single pass - makes for a much more efficient and enjoyable day.

I like to compose my pans as best I can, use minimal clicks and bottom focusing to "keep the car on the ground". The pans above actually have very little cropping done.

I will post part 2 pics in a day or two, the rain made for some pretty cool shots.

 

nice shots. but how did you get your pics to be that size through flickr?? i think medium is to small but large is to big. your look like the corrects size tho

Chris is correct. For posting purposes, I upload images to flickr at no more than 700 on the longest side, it seems to be the right size for "comfortable" viewing.

I don't waste my time with threads that require I scroll to the side or back away from my monitor in order to see their pics, and I imagine others feel the same.

 

Yeah 700 is the width of the table for posts on TR once you add in the cell padding. I prefer 900 wide because it shows more detail and generally avoids scrolling for most people.
