Default Lens Flare: Yay or Nay?

Should be an obvious answer, but is there ever a time lens flares are OK? I just started thinking about due to a recent photo I took. Personally I don't think the photo would have been as "captivating" had there not been the lens flare. Maybe it doesn't even matter to anybody, but at least I got all that out of my system.

Sometimes it's ok. In this shot... I dunno, it's weird that it's sort of going eye/nose area. I don't think I like it in this shot, but there are certainly shots where it works.

It is in a odd area, but I like it. I dont think this photo would be nearly as interesting w/o it

I hate it, but I see what your saying about giving a picture some more detail. So I guess in some cases it would be cool.
