i was attempting to polish my hxs and shit takes forever i used aircraft stripper and sand paper ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL day and the paint the last person had still wont come off so i gave up....so this might be a dumb question but whats the difference between taking them to be painted by someone that knows what their doing n having them powder coated? do they look different? and if theres anyone that can do it gimme a price..thx

 

Powder coat is a harder product then automotive paint. The paint you couldnt take off that was more likely powder coat. If you paint a rim with auto paint you have more chances of having it flake off from tire changes on the rim area.

 

Ive done a bunch of wheels in paint_some even multi color. The trick is having a good tire guy deal with the rims. Setting up the tire machine correctly is critical to keeping the bead from being damaged. I work part time at tire shop with old, half worn out equipment, and can still set it to where there is no contact with rim edge.

 

^ painted my GT3's multi color and got tires mounted and still no chips or flakes till this day! and I'd say that was a good year and a half ago!
