Default ECU issues

I think i have a bad ECU, when i turn my ignition switch to the off position the car will stay running. I will disconnect the battery and will still be running. Well long story short i had another ECU and put it in and that solved the problem. Now I did burn an diode in the ECU, but i didn't think it will cause this issue.

Any one come across this before?

I have had bad injectors that would stick open and cause the engine to diesel but not like what you're sayin.

I will offer this though.. there is nothing in the ECU that is "useless" so if you burned up a diode, then that's the source of your problem. get it repaired, or get it replaced.

You said that you have another ECU. Why not just utilize it.

Not turning off with the key out and fuel pump relay not energizing are some of the most common ECU issues. These are usually caused by bad wiring in the car. Whatever you do, make sure your wiring is sound or you'll just wind up having the same issue later.

(FYI: every car will keep running with the battery disconnected. It's being powered by the alternator.)

yeah yeah.

And, by "caused by bad wiring", I mean that the ECU damage is caused by bad wiring. I've seen so many burned up ECUs from wiring MAF sensors wrong, "upgrading" the fuel pump wiring/relay incorrectly, poor ground connections when reinstalling harnesses, etc. Sometimes this can be repaired in the ECU, but a lot of times there is damage that cannot be seen. Moving ROM boards to a different ECU is not hard if you're handy.
