so for the last couple hours i've been doing alot of research trying to make notes on eprom tuning and i just wanna make sure i have this right, if tuning a ka24e, vg30dett, ca18, or rb20 you need a 27c256 rom chip (84pin plcc for rb25) but if your doing an sr or ka24de you need two 27c256 plus the daughter board.
first off: i cannot find anywhere to get the 27c256 flash versions they talk about in threads so its easier to erase and reburn, (i am on a budget), anyone know where to find one?
second: anyone know where to find a free download for a tuning program i can use for all of these engines? i keep looking for an active link for the 925styles Rom editor software and i can't find it. if you guys know a better one let me know but i didnt wanna go with tunerpro, it seemed too generic and i couldnt find anything on nistune and ka24de's or det's. is crome honda ony or can that be used with nissans? anyhelp would greatly be appreciated

 

That is because the 27c's have been discontinued for about 6yrs now.

 

is that just for the flash versions or uv too? i thought i saw some on ebay for the uv but i dont really trust ebay as a sourse of reliability

 

You may still find them on ebay, either NOS or usd chips. You just use a 27sf512. They are cheap and work great. If you don't wanna re-burn a bunch of times, just pickup a ostrich or two(depending on what ecu your using) It is a rom emulator that is made by moates.net. Craig Moates has been making quality products for many years now. You may also want to buy a consult cable with software and obviously a wideband O2. There are many rom editors out there like liveedit. it works good but, it has bugs. Like the mods made to injector size or MAF setting won't show up. You have to remember what you set them to. Crome will read nissan .bin files but, it dosent have the correct options to properly modify the .bin file. There is this new software out called nismotronic. It looks very promising. I'm about to buy it just to try it. NismoTronic

 

I have the downloaded zip files for liveedit and the adr/bin files for tunerpro lmk if you want me to email them to you. Also, moates.net has daughterboards for ~$50

 

i have live livedit, romedit, win hex, and scan tech nissan downloaded, i still a lot of figuring out to do tho, what adr/bin's do you have? i really just want any that have to do with nissan engine, i downloaded tunerpro before n deleted it cuz it seemed like one of those one solution fits all kind of things thats too good to be true but the adr/bin files are the same i think right?

 

My bad, with tunerpro, its called an xdf file. The xdf(addy file) is how tunerpro knows where in the bin file to make changes. I only have the SR20 xdf file. I use liveedit with the CA18 I have. I haven't rom tuned any other nissan engines.(AEM tuned the rest of them)

 

hmm, well thx for the info juiced. lmk how nismtronic goes, the information on this stuff is so scattered cuz it seems like evryone prefers a different sofware for sr for ka, for rb. plus all the really old threads like the 240sx bible has a shitload of dead links that used to be really good info. if anybody knows which program is best for like all of our common 240 swaps it be awesome if you could let us know on here or mabe post some stock bin/adr's or anything really
