Question Rookie tuning questions?

Hey guys so im a little confused.I finished the H/C/I swap a couple of weeks ago.The fuel pressure guage i got was crap.So i know the pressure is of(its running pretty rich). So i need to ,and want to get the car tuned. So my question is(Not where to go,there is already about 1,000 post on that)but how does it work?By this i mean what do they adjust ,tweak,andvance,ect...Also can they do seperate tunes(on the spray and of the spray) on the same chip? Also when getting it tuned do they do dyno pulls to?Ok know i was expecting to pay roughly around 500$ does this sound about right? Also do these places also fix exaust leaks?Or are they just simply tuning shope? Thanks in advance guys
Brandon

Well it would be nice to have it tuned for maximum power,But im not at the track that often so basically I want a driveable tune. Its not my daily driver but i do drive it on the weekends.I said i was looking to spend around 500 because thats what I have been told it roughly cost for a tune and a chip.If I get a descent tune will it still respond well to the spray? As for my system i have the trick flow package(twisted wedge heads, track heat intake, stage one cam)with a stock block and the usual bolt ons.

Brandon,

I will tell you my experience a local tuner. I know you are not asking who, so I am just going to tell you what they did. I took the car, in my sig, to get it tuned. The car was put on the dyno to get our base line, with the A/F readings. First thing we found was the car was flat on the top end and was putting a beating on the 24lb injectors. I took the car back, made a few changes, and went back. The car was tuned with timing and fuel pressure. A chip was not needed at the time. The A/Fs were good and with a few more adjustments, we cracked open the bottle. By the time he was done, the car ran great NA or on the spray. I did have some hardware for auto timing retard and such, but a good tuner will listen to you. So be smart and listen back.
A good tune can be had with just the stock computer, fuel pressure, and timing. I would not trust a tune without the dyno.

And as I am sure you know, any shop that does tuning will also fix the exhaust or what ever you want fixed.

If you do want advise on where to take your car, I will tell you whom I am very happy with. Personally, I would never go without getting my car tuned. Sure it cost a few bucks, but from experience I can tell you that without it, it would have cost way more!

My friend Brandon got his car tuned at Race Related on the dyno only and it drove perfect on the street. I dont remember how much it cost but they did it with a chip. You can get a flip chip which allows you to have 2 programs. Call them and ask for a price. The price will include dyno time.
