Anyone ever make your own motor mounts?
And while their design doesn't have a bolt going through it like your idea does, it still shows that poly breaks down. Those were mounts with 10-15k miles on them.

Hm. Well that kinda dissuades me from the "isolator" style. lol. Thanks for the info guys.
And Empire, I know all about the WindoWeld trick...did that on the DSM years ago while saving up for poly mounts. And yeah I read that there is about a 5* tilt in the factory mounts. Im sure I can accomodate that.
My goal here isnt really just to save $50 bucks or whatever, I just like making shit. This seems really simple. Right now Im leaning towards pouring the mounts with a mold like that NICO link, only Id like to make them not look like a bag off assholes with solo cup patterns on them. lol

What: Homemade Engine Mounts
Why: Alternative to Hockey Pucks, Nismo Mounts or Stock Mounts
Time: 1 hour
Tools Needed:
Drill with 3/8th Metal Drill Bit
Table Saw or Hand Saw
Tape Measure
Chalk
Materials Needed:
1 - Tube of super glue
2 - 16oz Rubber Mallets

1 - 2ft length of 3/8ths all thread
4 - 3/8ths Nuts
8 - Washers (only 4 pictured)

Step 1
Take your drill and drill a hole straight through the rubber mallet width-wise.
(there's metal in the middle so make sure you have the proper bit)

Step 2
Then Cut the handles off

So they look like this

Step 3
measure the rubber and cut off rubber it until it measures 3 inches
(you can go smaller to lower the motor if you have clearence issues)

like so

Step 4
Cut 2 5&1/4inch lengths of all thread

Step 5
Super Glue your washers around the holes on the rubber

Step 6
Push your 5&1/4inch lengths of all thread through the rubber

Step 7
screw nuts on each side
Final Product

i chose to leave them bare, you can also wrap them in heavy duty tape or what not.

Hmmmmm. I understand why they used the mallet's, but still seems very very very sketchy to me.

Well, if you use one big bolt, then all you need to do is put something in there as a spacer. I guess as a temp type thing, the mallet wouldn't be too too bad.
but there are better rigged up type of ways to do it.

I was debating on doing the window-weld method on a set of mounts. After viewing this thread, I think I'm going to wait til I pull my motor and check out the remains of my current mounts before I drill and fill the newer ones. That is, IF I drill and fill them.
