sr20det valve shimming.
i have greddy valve springs and installing step 1 cams, i've been searching for the stock valve shim clearance, but can't find it.. anyone know a link? or know what it is off the top of their head..??
Keep the shims in the same location and there is no need to reshim anything unless you replace or lap the valves. Re shimming the valves is a BIG PITA!!!
Well you better have a good sr20 valve shim tool or access to one! It is very important to have the exact shim size or the motor wont run properly!
Cold head, intake and exhaust. Basically, the rocker has to be perfectly flat (less than .001" difference in height between intake pair / exhaust pair). The SR head is hydraulic lash, so what we would call the clearance is automatically adjusted. You'll need a tip height tool for the SR head to measure this. RP Sport and Custom Steel both made this tool, but they've nearly been wiped from the internet. Mazworx made their own but do not produce them. I made my own janky one from Harbor Freight parts.
