Radio used to turn on with headlights, now it doesn't.
Ok, well I have a stereo in my s13 coupe. Its installed with all factory wiring and a nissan adapter.
All 3 of my cars have done this, when you turn the headlight switch on it also turns the radio on.
Well one night we went out drifting, and my wires from my GIZZMO touched and caused it to blow my tail light fuse. Well I replaced my tail light fuse, but then my radio would not come on with my headlight switch.
I have checked all fuses, the signal stalk, the white box by the fuse box, the blue relay behind the radio. I am at a loss, I have no idea why it wont work now.

i have a system in my car and it works like normal, sounds like you dont know how to wire in a head unit properly if you have to turn the headlights for it to get power, you have a short so bust out the multimeter and find it or go shake your harness around and hope that fixes it for the time being once you fix that wire the head unit correctly
yo wired the radio signal wire which is supposed to ba a switched 12v to tell the radio to turn on wen the ign is turned to the on poss. to your radio backlight wire which tell the factory units backlight to come on wen the lights r turned on

my lag is your courtesy head start
ATTENTION.... installing a head gasket, head studs or pistons and rods in your otherwise STOCK engine dose not make it a "built" engine! stop listing you cars for sale saying they are built when its not!!

Can neither of you read? I did not wire anything.
I plugged 2 plugs into the factor plugs, then into the radio.
It has worked like this on the last 2 cars I installed it in.
Also, I never fucking said I HAD to turn the headlights on. If I were to turn the head lights on while the key is off, the radio would also get power. But it would turn on normal, with key power also.
And I will re-type this again, it is all factory wiring. Never been cut, just plugged in the adapted from bestbuy and then plugged the radio in.

deff sounds like your radio power is getting signal from the headlights...
i've always used the schoche or whatever adapter pigtails from wal mart, they're like $12... try that, and if it doesn't work, or does the same thing, you can just take it back...
another option would be to run the radio power wire, directly to your accessory fuse, it's how i have all the gauges/accessories in my car ran, so when you turn the key to the ACC spot everything comes on...
seems like one of those weird electrical gremlins that chase you around, but if it's always been the best buy adapter pig tails, start there, as the pins might be mixed... there's the dimmer feature on most radios, and the factory head unit, that once you cut the lights on, it dims the radio/accessories... check the pins/wiring on the adapter, not all those big box stores know what the fuck is up, and might have em crossed for their "universal nissan" applications......
