I'd actually agree with him, an R230 should be better then a Ford 8.8. The Ford diff is better supported and documented though.

R230 = 9.05" ring gear, in stock form its certainly stronger than probably every single stock 9" out there, sure you might be able to put enough money into the 9" to get it to be strong, after replacing 60% of it, but you're going to be FAR over the cost of an R230

There was a thread on FA about using the Q45 output shafts with an R200 diff. That seemed to work really well for a car making more torque than you will be.

my lag is your courtesy head start

ATTENTION.... installing a head gasket, head studs or pistons and rods in your otherwise STOCK engine dose not make it a "built" engine! stop listing you cars for sale saying they are built when its not!!

You guys are missing a key ingredient. The output shafts / stubs. All of the US 240sx and Z32 stuff uses 29 spline output shafts. Later S15 (and other beefier JDM models) as well as Q45 use 30 spline output shafts with a 1mm larger shaft diameter. Nissan basically put the larger R230 output shafts into the R200. It's the Q45 parts that get the notoriety because they have the 6x1 axle pattern to all out you to use Q45/Z32TT axles. There are plenty of aftermarket diffs that support the R200 30 spline arrangement. I actually had a KAZZ 1.5way that was 30 spline and had 3x2 output shafts.
