You should probably take your head to the machine shop with the cam caps and have it line bored. Then you can have someone put the cams in.

If cam broke, you have bent valves. Head has to come off.

Unless you broke the cam by installing it wrong ( cam caps tightened down in the wrong order against stiff aftermarket springs ) and you broke it while the motor was spinning, the chance that you did not cause valve damage is about 25%... Why ? because a stock SR cam has about 248 degrees of duration which is about this number. Then you add in the fact that the cam still is spinning forward when it breaks. Pulled a lot of heads and usually broken cam = bent valves.

Though now that I stop to think about it, the stock duration is at .006 or so valve lift, numbers at .050 are probably more like 208* or so, and im sure even smaller at enough lift to cause ptv contact, not as likely as it seems on the surface, but it would just suck to do all that work only to have to take it right back apart...

Yeah I know. How can I check to see if I have bent valve w/o taking the head off?

Voodoo magic ?

Parts are cheap enough, the best route would be to just get another head to install, rwd det heads go for $150, a fwd one im sure goes for far less.
