swap or turbo stock engine?
hey on a 95 and up 240 is it better to keep the stock engine in it and turbo it then swap it wiht the s13(red top)? and how much dose it cost to turbo the stock 240 engien in that year?(95)
This is my OP:
I believe it is better to swap to an S13 red top engine because you can pick one up for $1,500-2,000 (with trans). The engine is already strong and with very mild upgrades you can do 350HP on stock internals or a little more providing you do the proper fuel upgrades. If you buy a turbo kit for the N/A engine you'll have to pay around 2,500-4,000 and it still wont make as much power without having more upgrades as a stock red top. Plus you don't get a 5-speed trans included in that pirce!

I don't know WHY I am helping you, maybe because I want you to shut up...thanks for warning the piss out of me on AIM last night for no reason, by the way.
Swapping the KA out for an SR and turbocharging the KA both cost nearly the same amount if you do them RIGHT.
The best comparison I've ever heard-
It's like comparing Mr. T to Jackie Chan.
Where as the KA24DE would be Mr. T (Torquier, larger displacement) and the SR would be Jackie Chan (nice revs, built for kicking ass).
It all depends on what YOU want to do.
But I don't think it matters because you'll probably never have a car anyways.

also somewhat dependant on your mileage.
sr's usually come with a certain amount of mileage that is likely to be lower than the mileage on your ka24de. although mileage does NOT make a difference since i know a few ka's over 100k+ miles that still hold compression and run very well. its just a matter of preference on the mileage part.
after i finish suspension/braking upgrades, i plan on picking up a spare ka24de block. i cant divulge my specific plans, but if the number 400+ means anything to you, you might know what i plan on doing.

dude i helped this kid like 40 times
i called Jay Whitely up several times to get prices
and help on the swap for this kid
got him websites like 240sx.org and freshalloy and se-r.net to help him
and he still asks the same fucking questions
you gotta be willing to look for yourself and do research
