so I ordered a new multi-function switch (turn signal etc.) I hope this solves it, $85.00 is not throw away money

dude you have a short at your brake pedal. its the brake light switch. i have a 1991 240sx s13 same thing happend. fixed it tho

Well that's true, but it's not like they're common to have problems, and I doubt it will fix anything.

i just cleaned mine because my headlights wernt getting power... works great now. it could be the contacts not being pushed asfar and the force of stoping making them get contact

Thanks guys...

I installed the new multi-switch today and...

viola!

It fixed all my issues, not only that but now the headlights go up and down again too.
wasn't even expecting these results, but everything works as it should again.

So, for you guys seeing the same problems, try replacing the headlight multi-switch.

cool so the muti switch for the head lights fixed hitting the brake pedal and lights coming on?? if so i have a spare i might put on

Yep, it cured all of it. The brake light circuit is integrated with the turn signals, that way the turn signal will still flash when you step on the brakes... so it makes sense that if that switch was grounded somewhere inside, it would power the circuits it was grounded to when you activate the brake light switch. That was my theory anyway, and must be somewhere close to accurate since replacing the switch worked.
