go to a honda dealer (motorcycle) and pick up there gas tank sealer stuff. it has a solvent that cleans the tank then you coat the inside of the tank with the sealer and it prevents it from rusting or corroding again

We used some stuff on the inside of the tank on a 73 Porsche called POR-15. It has a solvent that cleans it all out, you drain it and let it dry, put the coating agent in there, move it around, drain it, let it dry, and it has a brand new finish inside.
