Default c4 transmission? what do I need?

Just was browsing AMS for something adn ran into a C4 transmission adaptor plate for the ka, this adaptor plate was for a automatic bell housing. So my question is, what do I need to fit a c4 transmission into a s14. is their a kit with the adaptor plates possible a drive shaft also in the kit or somewhere that sells one and also is their different fitment issues between a auto/manual and just manual c4 tranny, do they make a just manual c4 transmission also. the reason I was thinking of going c4 is because the transmission seems to be very strong and according to my (as usual) minimal research into my dieas, it seems to be cost effective against installing a VG tranny. seems like around 1,700 for the tranny and im not sure about the kit till someone post more about my questions. thinking it will take more abuse than a vg used tranny. I remember reading some where that if you break a c4 tranny its covered under warranty and will be replaced. I forget where I read that But I remember reading it on ka-t or something.~thunder cat

sorry I do not know alot about aftermarket transmissions or muscle cars alot so IM not familiar on c4 trannys.

*clears throat* ok heres the deal

a bone stock c4 from a fox body will hold up to MAYBE 350HP/tq if your going to get any kind of built transmission your looking at easily $3000 or more. trans brake and manual shift solenoid's are even more. dont forget that you are going to need a torque converter. that can run you anywhere from $150 to $1000 depending on diameter, and lock up speed.

chances are when you buy and adaper kit it will only include the adapter plate itself and maybe a trans mount. you will need to take your tranny yoke to a drive shaft shop and have them make you one.

Unless you're building a big power drag car a C4 trans is a giant waste of time

I don't recall you ever making power. Just stick to what you have.

I would like to buy a transmission thats new that can hold power before I drop $2000 into a VG tranny set up and have it ben beaten to shit and not taken care of. Didnt think AMS would put a kit for such a shit tranny then on their site. sorry, I read on KA-T about c4 tranny set up along time ago so I saw ams kit and i thought I would ask. and I am in the process of building my ka, goal will be 400whp. Im buying things I know I will not change my mind later like the synapse synchronic BOV I just bought and the AEM Uego wideband and the JWT adjustable cam gears and fuel rail....thats about it for parts im slowly obtaining them will probably take me 3 years to complete but I guess thats how long it takes when you dont live and sponge off your parents. look for many questions about parts Im still wondering about geting.

You are not AMS, so stop bringing them up. Are you going to compare your car to Mazworx's S15 next?

Are you kidding me, first a built block ka with no boost.

Now you want to build a c4 car, for your no turbo ka-t?

There are like 300 people on ka-t.org making plenty of power on ka transmissions with no problems. And those that still drive their cars and break them go to z32 transmissions.

No need in rebinventing the wheel.

AMS has this part because it was for their 700+whp drag car. That's how the SR-Z32 kit came into existence at Mazworx. Necessity, then making a product out of it. AMS didn't make this part, then throw a 1970 Fairlane junkyard tranny behind it to go drag racing. It was probably a highly built unit.

That C4 adapter is just the plate. Sold separately is the crossmember. Then you need a custom driveshaft. A rebuilt/upgraded C4 as well. $1700 (for a Z32 setup) will be a steal once you assemble your C4 kit.

Maz can get/make you a Geforce2000 adapter....
