Default Ka-t Tuning question

Ok, here is the deal, I will be boosting my ka in the next few months and I was wondering what kind of tuning systems I should look into. Let me know what you guys think about the best tuning without spending a rediculous amount of money. I have no problem saving up 2-300 bucks for a nice tune but I am also interested in buying the software and learning to tune it myself.

Please no B.S. just honest answers/ opinions/ recomendations.

Thanks

Enthalpy is a good off the shelf tune. You don't have to get it retuned, but you should.

It's the best value for sure. I think they're pretty cheap these days. For the price of an S13KA tune, it's about as much as an SAFC new or Calum/Nistune, all of which you'll have to have tuned or learn yourself.

Ok good deal. I was thinking about Enthalpy for a while and slowly saving up for an Emanage or AEM, etc. But until then, i'll grab another ecu and have that tuned so I don't have any down time. Does that sound about right?

Thanks

Emanages are fairly cheap used. But with an Enthalpy youll most likely have to fine tune with an safc1 or 2. Not always, but its probable. IMO best bang for buck and result is CalumRT like mentioned above. I think now theyre like in the 420hehe range but last stop for tuning. Plus you will learn so much more about boosting your KA versus just paying for an enthalpy or jim wolf romtune. I had a Emance tune for lke $120 cheap, hit and miss on tune quality. Lots of happy and unhappy customers with Emance. Lots of options out there, G/L man.

Plus i forgot to add that with a Calum he sends you a base initial tune to get you down the road safely and in some cases the tune is right on. And then you fine tune from there. Its very cool.

Wow, I am basically sold on Calum RTs after readin a little. I can't believe I've never looked into them, but it was probably because I was planning on doin a super-budget-car-go-boom tune.
Awesome info everybody. Time to start saving. They are $450 for the v2's btw.

Calum has had a huge backlog recently. Good luck with that. I've been trying to get one since November. Also keep in mind that what he's giving you is a base map. He will tell you right up front that the tune he sends you is questionable at best, and that he is definitely not a tuner.
