snip mod / auto ecu swap?? question

ok well im not trying to stir anything up and you are right about the cars i race against. we are all good friends who love cars but cant afford anything special yet- a boosted mazda protege, a 3000gt non vr4, etc. all fun but not the fastest around. and ike i said earlier, i was just looking for opinions on that "mod". I wasnt planning on using it, just wantin more info on it. so thanks guys.

the auto ecu is rumored to have a "better" fuel/timing map... but no one has ever really proven it...
the best way to do it is to remove the 4th and 5th gear sensors.
that will eliminate both the rev limiter and the speed limiter and still allow you to have a working speedometer. The automatic ecu just doesn't look for those sensors, that's why that ecu swap will work.

damn man, no offense or anything, but a 16.11 with bolt on stuff?! did you just not hook up or what?
My old coupe was an automatic and the only two mods was 17 inch rims and a cut off muffler and it would run 15.8-15.9 consistently... that was with full interior and a/c (not on of course) and all of that jazz...

14.9 in a 5 speed s14 with only bolt ons. Stock clutch on stock se's with good tires(good tread street.)

And that was the first time I had ever driven the car. My s13 with all bolt ons and 11lb aluminum flywheel went 14.5 on 17s and 215/45.

To OP, just run an auto ECU. I am, but thats just because it came in the car

all you need to win is just be as consistent as possible if you run a 16.1 all day you can win. you will just get more tree's than the other guy

last time i hit the track was when my SR was pretty much stock, ran a 13.11 @ 108mph with a bog off the line (goddamn fidanza) tire spin all through first, second, and chirped 3rd (once again, shitty tires...

Car runs like crap with the auto ECU when the motors cold. Not worth it in my opinion. Even if you drag race, you wont hit the speed limit on the 1/4.
