Overheating problem

maybe your coolant temp sensor is fucked up?

guess Ill try the water pump once i get paid. Its definatly overheating cause it caused the radiator hoses to burst so its not the sensor i dont think.

Check your heater core, and heater hoses. Remove the thermostat and fill the car with 50-50 coolant. Bleed the heck out of it on an incline. If that doesn't work, you either have an occlusion in your coolant passages, headgasket is going, or the water pump took a shit. Is the car eating coolant?

if you're burning coolant its a leak or the headgasket.

if his heater core was fucked up he would smell it.

my money is on the water pump... my old motor did the exact same thing... it would over heat at idle, but be fine once I got it moving. The increased air flow masked the fact that there wasn't enough coolant flow...

and just to cover all of the bases, it might also be the clutch on the fan... it might not be engaging like it should and therefore not pulling enough air...
