wtf to do
wtf to do
just bought a S14 with redtop. looking to change the oil but not sure if the previous owner used synthetic of conventional oil and dementia supposedly doesnt remember what oil was used. i would normally use synthetic but I was told that Nissan recommends against it. what do you guys think i should do?
^ I like Mobil 1... Why do you run a heavy weight oil in your car?
i mostly run it for the higher viscosity and as hard as i run my motor, shit gets hot... not to mention, Rotella has detergents in it that clean the motor..
check this...
i get my long block from JDM online... all kinds of carmelization in the head...
and i was recommended to use Rotella after i started losing oil pressure at idle after a test and tune at the gainesville raceway, nothing major, maybe 2 -/+ psi... well i dropped in some Rotella, and immediately my oil pressure raised +2/+3psi at idle... i also changed the oil every 300-500 miles (hell, Rotella's cheap enough), and currently i would say about 60%-70% of the carmelization in the head is gone... i don't have any recent pics cause i never think about it when my VC's off...
shit works, i use it in all my cars...
95 S10
97 Audi
99 Silverado
96 SR 240 #1
96 SR 240 #2
07 Mustang GT California Special
the Mustang and the black 240 usually run either K&N oil filters or now the GReddy filter on the black 240... i use Fram Tough Guard on all the others... i used to run NOTHING but Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 filters, it's actually really good stuff, and i'll recommend it... even though i've converted to Rotella status these days, cause that shit works, cleans, and keeps my oil PSI up..
Rotella is diesel oil, and if D's run for 300k+ miles, the oils gotta help....

Hmmm... I'm going to do a little reading about rotella oil, maybe I'll give it a try on one of my next cars. I've tried all types of oils. Penzoil in my BMW, In the 240 I ran Royal Purple (Garbage), Castrol Syntec (Lots of engine noise), Mobil 1 (My vote) k&n and mobil 1 filters are identical performance wise imho. K&N filters are a little easier to remove though.. lol I've been running mobil 1 for a good 3 years and never had any problems.
