240mph S13
something for you guys to chew on that are unfamiliar with boneville. Racing on the salt is like driving on Ice. there is no traction. you cannot just hit the gas and go. you have to ease onto the gas and build speed. also take into acount your drag coificient once you pass two hundred starts to really limit your top speed. all the power in the world is useless without aerodynamics.
a customer that my shop has worked with a number of times currently holds the C/STR wourld record at 218.079. Salt racing is something unlike anythign you have ever seen before. and here is the guys website for all of you.Bonneville Roadster - Doug Kenny

Yeah, there's a decent segment about competing at Bonneville on a recent Top Gear. JC drove the ZR1 and had a few traction problems. He also spent some time talking about how hard it is to drive on that surface.
Also, the 240sx shape (both of them) have proven to be very slippery. Stock (no aero) hatches have gone nearly 190mph around here. There's also a nice vid of an stock bodied S14 doing nearly 200mph.
Honestly, that S13 in the OP doesn't have that much aero. It's a taped off front bumper and moondishes. That spoiler looks like it's more to control yaw with all that vertical component. But I do see how it would clean up the air behind the car. All that garbage on the hood can't be great, it has untouched wheel wells... I wonder what it looks like underneath.

I'm betting the bottom is untouched mostly due to how low the bumper is to the ground. It looks as if they are going more for the old NASCAR style of a giant front air damn to keep as much air out from under the car as possible. Also the skinny wheels play a huge factor in aerodynamics.
Also if you look at the roof there are 2 strips of 1" 90* aluminum. Looks like another small form of yaw control.
The biggest issue with the salt is keeping it all in a straight line. Once you get close to 200mph and start to slide sideways the car turns straight into a giant wing.

Very impressive as far as aero and drag go, my car felt like it could keep going when I did 190 and was at 7600rpms in fifth gear with 26" mickeys and the j30 diff on an sr tranny just ran out of room on howard franklin and quite honestly I didn't wanna test to see if the car would pull some redline bullshit and lift off the ground trying to go over 200.....
On the 28 inch tires and z32 tranny I believe we saw almost 180 in fourth gear, I never tried anything near topping out on the 28's cause quite frankly they are not rated for anything near that and they like to dance at high speeds imagine a blowout at over 200mph on a bridge... At this point I'm going down to an xterra diff with my z32 tranny and 26 inchers.
