HKS DLI or Split Fire coils
So my ignition is breaking up real bad and I'm losing power because of it, the mechanic tuning it played around and pretty much said that I needed to boost the ignition with something like the HKS twin power DLI, but I found the split fire setup that comes with the amp box and new coilpacks for almost $100 cheaper than the HKS. So the question is which one is better, I found good reviews for both but I want to here form some body here. Thanks

Haven't tried HKS, I am running the splitfires, they're holding 34 to 38psi on race gas high boost without a problem, when I blew my headgasket at the track because the wastegates didn't open up and the turbo was shooting all it had reving out to 8200 and I held spark the whole way through so I would think you should be fine with splitfires.

The splitfires really woke up my last car. I would also look at increasing your ignition dwell time as well.
What I've also seen work well is something like a Kenne Bell boost-a-spark. Basically you're running your coils at 16-18-20V (whatever you set it at) instead of the normal 14V. This works so well that KA guys are running NA gaps (.044") under boost like this.

im running split fires on my rb, currently running 27 psi with no problems. have had them in my car over 2 years now with no complaints

my lag is your courtesy head start
ATTENTION.... installing a head gasket, head studs or pistons and rods in your otherwise STOCK engine dose not make it a "built" engine! stop listing you cars for sale saying they are built when its not!!

Sounds like I'm going to save my self $100 and go with the Splitfires, I wanted to replace the coilpacks anyway. This is with that head I bought off you Epstein, so this should bring out the badassedness that is hiding in there. Now I just have to sell some stuff to get the money so the wife will let me buy this stuff.

Doesn't that take a standalone, or at least a re-flash to make work though?
I'm running a DLI (got it for a steal) and there is definitely a noticeable difference with it. I'll know more when I get the car dialed in later on this month. Still waiting on the new manifold to get here.

The LS1 coilpacks need a lot more dwell than the stock ECU/ROM is programmed for. You'll either need a standalone or someone that knows how to change the dwell in the ROM.
Yeah, my old head really liked having those splitfires. The CNC chamber made idle and low speed combustion a little weaker than it was, but the hotter spark really cleaned it right up. If you can't tell by the way it runs, you could smell the difference idling (no cats). Of course the CNC chamber was great for resisting knock at high boost levels on pump!
