PS questions..

Default PS questions..

In short, something took a shit on me and I no longer have PS. I'm suspecting it's the rack I'm told the seals in them go bad and could cause the PS to fail.

My pump pully still turns etc, it's not frozen.

My question is, do the lines go bad? Should I flush them when replacing the rack? How would I know they are bad?

Do you use teflon tape when replacing the lines, or will the PS fluid eat it up?

Anyone with any expierence w PS and replacing the rack chime in please.

did it leak all the fluid out? if the rack went bad it would leak the fluid out. If not your pump may have died, possible bent line... maybe.. racks aren't difficult to do, i have never used teflon tape and never had anything leak. first thing you gotta do is check for fluid, then come back.

I think the Rack was leaking slowly prior, due to the cross member being wet and theres fluid in there. Lets just say Brake Fluid was in the PS lines for a while and turned out to be a really cool Pudding like consistancy. I took the resovior out, cleaned it out thouroughly, and replaced it. Didn't clean the lines due to limitability, time and lack of tools. This was after the PS let go.

Bill Cosby would have been proud! So I'm suspecting the rack is offically fucked.

Im going to go with either rack or definately possibly burnt up pump, it is designed to pump only a certain consitency, you obviously increased that consitency a bunch so it may be garbage.
