solid lifter?
So I'll make this short and simple: I know there are a few of you guys running solid lifter setups in your sr's. My question is, are you running solid lifter specific cams? If you're not, could you please post which solid lifter setup you are using and also which cams? I've searched around on a few other forums and it seems like there is a 50/50 split of people saying "yes, you can run regular cams on solid lifters" or "you have to run cams designed for solid lifters" I'm just trying to find out some real world experience here.
Thanks in advance for any info....

You can run cams that aren't meant for Solid lifters on a solid setup, but you can't run cams that are meant for solid lifters on HLA's... The lift will bottom out and possibly destroy or badly damage the HLA's... If I had a solid setup, I'd be taking full advantage and run the cams designed to run on them. That's just my $.02

I've done it both ways. HKS step3's and JWT C1's. The cams made for solids have a small section before the lobe that takes up the gap/clearance first. The hydro lifter cams don't have this because they run 0 clearance normally. Hydro cams on solids is just a little noisier, but perfectly fine. I've known several other people who've done it as well. Step3's (solid cam) was actually pretty quiet as far as mechanical noise.
^ thanks for the info...

solid lifters are a headache in my opinion, if there were in your daily driver. me personally would run them if it was my beat the crap outta car that came out on weekends. the whole measuring an re-shimming process is pretty much what keeps me away. im anal about maintenance and would be re-shimming evrey 3000. on my build i jam keeping it under the 500 mark so i wont have to hear about solid lifters and i can sleep easy.lol
