Need info on a CA18DET!
Well, then it will be a lesson learned, but I think I oughta give it a shot. Worst thing that could happen is I don't like it as much as I thought I would. But I'm merely a Teenager, I'm easily amused, haha.=] But, is there ANYTHING else I should know before starting this whole thing?

Just get a Sr20det or turbo the ka. Your not gonna be different if u get a CA18DET. Parts are hard to find sometimes. N people do KA's n Sr20's because its the most reliable and known option .

SR20's are awesome, don't get me wrong. A boosted KA can be quite impressive as well, BUT I want to do THIS Swap. It's just a preference thing. Not choosing because I falsely think that it's a better engine that the SR or the KA, it's just what I want to do, ya know?

if i where you i would just go with a s13 with a ka in it... then along the line you can either buy another ka block and go ka-t or just use the ka you have now and get a decent amount of power out of it with small mods and at the same time save up for an sr or something... i mean you really cant be to different with a swap everything from a-z has been swaped into a 240 small blocks, bigblocks, roterys, vq35 , rb26 the list goes on but it all depends on how big your wallet is it took me a year to do my sr20 swap but thats mainly becuase i did alot of research on where to order my motorset from as well as the parts that i waned to order you can go ebay with your parts but i didnt want to go down that road becuase alot if people i know who go ebay with parts the shit breaks on them... a Ca is a good motor but it deff lacks power .... to me and im sure alot of other people its a pointless swap butif you have a thing for ca's then for for it!! you say your going to be useing your car for daily driving but we all know that you mostlikely will evolve from that and either will be trying to get your car sideways or you will be wanting to go fast .. just do alot of research on what you really want to base your car on and go from there you will prolly be jumping around with differant swaps and ideas untill you find the one you want to do

Thanks chask, you're getting some Rep for that post! That was some good advice. And I will begin researching it, and today I'm heading out to go grab and fill out applications wherever I can. Any more advice, from anyone, will still be appreciated. I'm really starting to become motivated to do this. I know it is gonna take time, and I will try and keep you guys up-to-date on my progress if you're interested. And ANY news on a CA block, or an S13 Shell, would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks!! well like 240cyanide said you can try craigs list you craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums and just search your local area or try the nissan forsale section or SFL fourms find the car you want dont buy someone elses project... its going to be hard to find a 13 that has not been comeplately raped but sometimes you can fall into a gem that some old lady had or some guy bought it for his daugher and she got another car and went to college... dont buy the first thing you see ive leard the hard way... the car in my signature was my first 240 i bought and i had to get it towed from clear water to bradenton becuase what ever he did seince i test drove it to the time i bought it made the car not turn over.... and at the time i did not know anything about cars lol soo i basily paniced bust just keep your eyes sharp for cars parked in backyards and stuff online you might fall into something a little nicer then you expect for what your willing to spend ofcourse...
motor wise id deff stay KA.... most likely you will grow out of the ca phase KA is deff good power for anything its a good base thing to start off of 2.4ltr with decent hp and tourqe for the power to weight the car has.. and like i said small little things like full esuast and intake and stuff will not get you much but will get you a little more from your car... project car magizine did a drift car build with a 5000 budget and bought a stock ass s13 coupe auto matic did a 5speed swap on it and did minor upgrades like an exuast and intake and other suspention things and it was a nice car it had power and good geomotry for drifting for a low budget... now saying thats what you want to do is drift but you dont really need to go out and spend 5000 on a motor and shit there is thice guy i belive his name is charlie?? aka iceman he has a stock ka in his 13 and can keep up in driftign with alot of other guys who are runniing the higher end shit like sr's and stuff if i where you id deff do you research becuase like i said most likely you will be changeing your mind on what swaps you want to do... and most likely your not gona DD your car.. your a male and your in a sports car lol most likely your going to try doing shit esp seince 240's are one of the most common cars for drift/drag use... you are going to explore more with your car and do more and more research and find out shit you never even knew about a 240.. they are very unique cars and have a hugeeee following as well as a huge history they make just about any part for the car from a knob to stick in your ebrake (not really chassis spasific) all the way up to a kit to swap an ls1 (corvette motor) into your car.. just do alot of reading and stuff and find out what you really like i was the same way at first and then i finally settled down on going with the sr20det.. and once you find out what you want to do its not as simple as doing it unless you have done it before.. most people new to doing swaps do research where to buy a motor and stuff becuase they dont want to waste there money then where you get your motor or find out where you wana get it from you basicly start finding out what all parts you need or what do you need to do and buy to put that motor in your car..
