Default new(probably bad) idea stirring. input please?

i was randomly surfing around on some other forums and i saw pics of one of my favorite s13s ever again:

after seeing it again, i wanna get a vert. i wanna do the same wide fenders but not the same kit. i see this car as inspiration. since i came to that conclusion, i need some input from the vert guys. if i got one, i still want to keep it as a dd and for drifting. so keep that in mind. pro's and cons of this?

Just to add on: im deff not going to do a "hardtop" like sink was thinking about because that is not only gross but the worst fucking idea ever. if i wanted a "hardtop" id just get a coupe shell

most people will say frame rigidity and weight are the biggest cons to the vert. thats pretty much true. they will hold up to drifting, plenty of guys on the nico convertible forums do it. the biggest pro is open roof drifting, i've heard its pretty fun never really got into it with my car though.

over all i say do it man. i love my drop top to death. just make sure the top is healthy or you budget in replacing/maintaining it.

They are a bit heavier than a coupe, and have alot more factory reinforcement. Other than that its just the same?

Also they all came in automatic, and where only brought here in 94'

true, i know there was a guy on zilvia that corner weighed his vert with full tank of gas and the stock autotrajic and came in at 3,143. heavyweight for sure. i guess the only thing that would be different is it'll be like drifting just a heavier s13?

1/2 right longfellow. Convertibles were made available 1992-1994, 1994 being the only year that the convertible was the only s-chassis nissan sold and the most rare of all the convertible years. But yes, plan on 5-speed swap.

Most of that weight IIRC starts at the firewall and ends in the trunk. Most of it being in the rear cross section peices under the rear seat/trunk area and floor pan.

Stitch welding and gussets will help out alot, unless you make a cage. Fender braces would be a nice addition, and possibly adding a brace in the trunk area. Other than that I really dont see it as being too much different than a normal 240 just with about an extra 200lbs. Which a more power should be able to over come.
